The flat window tube shell provides sealed protection and an optical channel for the internal optoelectronic elements. The flat window is perpendicular to the optical path, allowing light beams to pass through at large incidence angles while maintaining optical path integrity. After the element is mounted on the header, the shell is welded to the header to form a hermetic environment that keeps out moisture, dust and other contaminants.
